::Tings:: September 22, 2008New things are in the works. Especially the new issue. It's almost done and what we've got so far is a serious banger. Stay tuned friends.
::RIP:: September 5, 2008Got some bad news from the tradeshow tonight. Van Wastell has passed away. New pro, complete ripper, and a joy to watch ride a skateboard, Van will be missed. We're sending good thoughts and vibes to all of his family and friends during this tough time. RIP, Van Wastell. ::Back Up For Back-to-School:: August 19, 2008Complain no more friends, all of the videos are back up and working. Sure, it took a little longer than it should have, but they're up. Uploading that many gigs of video isn't exactly something that can be done in one sitting.
If you click on that little image there, you'll see a flyer for a show that theProgam's art director Patrick Jilbert is having next week. Bourbons and 'Lacs, my friends, bourbons and 'Lacs. ::Lately:: August 12, 2008Been slow with site updates, but we're working. There are going to be some changes coming that will probably coincide with the next issue, so stay tuned. In the meanwhile, it looks like SLAP Magazine is following in theProgram's footsteps and going strictly digital. For those of us that read our skate rags on the toilet, we're bummed. For those of us who think it might be a good opportunity for up-and-coming photogs and writers, we're stoked. ::RVCA:: July 19, 2008The RVCA team will be here this Tuesday, July 22. They'll be at Home Skateshop at 6pm for a signing and then they'll be at the park for a demo after that. Go out, meet some pros, and try not to be complete choads. Here's the flyer. Also, we're slowly but surely getting theVideos back up and running so that you can watch all of your favorite clips from the past year and a half. We started at the most recent and are working our way backwards, so we've got a little ways to go just yet, but we're getting there. ::Problems:: July 11, 2008The site was down for a little while today, and we'll tell you why. The company that hosts the site pulled the plug. Not because we didn't pay the bill. Not because we surpassed our bandwith. No, theProgram was seeing so much traffic that the other sites sitting on the same server wouldn't load up. Normally, we'd be stoked that we were seeing that much traffic, but we have statistics of our own and could tell that something wasn't quite right. As it turns out, a site from Russia attached a bot to theSite to phish for videos and subsequently posted links to all of the videos held on theProgram's server. As it turns out, a lot of people in Russia are stoked on what we've got going here. But, back on topic, what we had to do was take down all the videos for now until the bot realizes that there are no videos for which to phish and quits barging our server with millions of requests. We're currently working to make sure something like this doesn't happen again, and will be getting theMedia back up and running just as soon as we can. Stay tuned. ::IssueSeven:: July 7, 2008The new issue is here, as promised. You didn't think we were lying did you? There's plenty of good content in this issue, including an interview with local Edward Dearinger, an article on Go Skateboarding Day, and much more. We don't want to spoil all the surprises before you even hit the contents page. Also be sure to check out Ballard's SF edit down there in theMedia section. We're cracking theWhip and he should have a new montage up soon, so keep checking back. But for now, go check out the new issue and let us know what you think. ::Back to Back:: June 30, 2008Two updates in two days? You'd think we were on the ball or something. Anyway, it appears that Cole Wilson is becoming quite the celebrity these days. Matt Ballard's clip of theProgram trip to SF has quickly made it's way around the world wide web and the fellas over at 48 Blocks took notice and threw up a link to the clip and theProgram. Nothing but love for those cats. You might also notice that they made mention of Isaac McKay-Randozzi's blog over at SLAP Magazine because he too updated with news of Cole's trip to SF. Let's keep it rolling fellas. ::Video Clipz:: June 29, 2007If you've been keeping up with theBlog, you'll remember that some of theProgram's finest associates recently returned from two weeks of shredsticking in San Francisco. Well, now that theBallard's got his own rig, he's finally back on the ball and making clips for you fine folks to enjoy. Check out his latest work down there in theMedia section. And yes, IssueSeven is coming soon. Just waiting on a few last minute pieces and you'll have another fine issue to check out. That being said...what did you do for Go Skateboarding Day? Really? Sounds fun. Show us. Send us pictures and video of what you did on the day when we're supposed to skate whether or not we feel like it. ::Long Time Coming June 14, 2008Well, it's been a while huh? Whoops. We're hard at work on the new issue, so hopefully we'll have that for you soon. We've been receiving some stellar photo submissions, so keep those coming. We're really in need of some articles though, so if you write, send us some stuff! Just click on the banner above and send it to us via email. Also, will the Independent team be here tomorrow? Will there be some of skateboarding's biggest names in attendance? Only time will tell. Unfortunately, that's all for now. Check out theBlog for some SF-style adventures with some of theProgram's associates. ::Good News and Bad News:: May 5, 2008Which do you want first? We'll start with the bad news: the old (and amazing) vert ramp at Breslin Park here in Louisville got torn down today. Dane Warner and some of the Bacon Skateboards ams were on their way to skate it and showed up to a bulldozer and jackhammer and the remnants of the ramp. It's not a spot many skated regularly, but it was sort of a landmark for Louisville skateboarding. Dane put it best when he said "It's basically like a close friend dying. One night it's there and the next morning it's gone." That's the truth. RIP Breslin vert ramp. Now the good news: Local ripper and close personal friend of theProgram, Cole Wilson, has a featured check-out on the San Francisco based website 48 Blocks. It features photos by theProgram's Andy Collins and video shot and edited by theProgram's Matt Ballard. Triple score! ::Getting In On theAct::April 23, 2008We're stoked to announce that our friend Templeton Elliot is not only stoked on theProgram, but also what theFriends of theProgram are doing. He's got the trailer for Jeremiah Stevens' new project up on his Mostly Skateboarding site. Thanks Templeton and congrats Jeremiah. ::Tax Day::April 15, 2008Did you fools do your taxes yet? Are you even old enough to worry about taxes? Well, Jeremiah Stevens got a fire lit under him when he saw Will Hartsock's trailer in the last update and put together a trailer for his new independent video. He tells us it's pretty much done and that it will out sometime this summer. And what do you know? He gave theProgram the exclusive release of the trailer! It's down there in the media section...do click. And before it gets started, no, his is not theProgram video. Stay tuned for news on that. Now go skate. ::Checking In::April 9, 2008Spring has sprung and everyone seems to be out skating these days. We like that. What that probably means is that you're going to be seeing the next issue come out faster than the last one did. Maybe not, but we're trying. Have you been checking theBlog? There's a ton of stuff going on over there. So much so, it almost feels a little redundant updating this section of the site. But, update we must, so update we will. The biggest update tonight is the news that Will Hartsock and his 750Four Productions is hard at work on another video! Damn, those dudes are getting it done. We like that just as much as we like this spring weather. In fact, they've already got a trailer out! Handlin' the Earf right now. Not to be outdone, Jeremiah Stevens is setting up to bust out another video from the HOME Skateshop camp sometime soon. It's a bit of leftovers, a bit of new footage, a bit of comedy, and a lot of sick skating wrapped into a package that looks to be the cleanest video to come out of Louisville. Damn, where's that video from theProgram? You'll see. ::Lately::March 24,2008Templeton Elliot is at it again and promoting Issue Six over at his Mostly Skateboarding website. Thanks Templeton! Also, theBlog is blowing up! Are you keeping up? Lots of photos, videos, links, stories, et cetera going on in there. Check it. ::IssueSix::March 19, 2008Issue Six is now up and ready for consumption! It's a bit different than the rest of our issues have been, but we feel like it's an amazing issue in its own right. If you've been paying attention, then you'll already know that it is theArt Issue, so there's not as much "hardcore extreme skateboard action" as past issues. Instead, we chose to focus on the more artistic side of skateboarding. There's no interview, and most of the articles are short, artistic pieces that do more than tell you what a dude's set up is or who did what trick where and on what day. Hopefully it will inspire more of you to tap into your artistic side because as skateboarders, we look at the world in a very artistic way. Anyway, go on over to the right there and have a look! Once you're done with that, check out all the action in theBlog! We've currently given keys to 6 people, most of whom are already posting lots of stuff. theBiggin has posted a video, theBallard has provided a link to an amazing part from our friend Andy Sisomboune, Andy is posting photos and sequences, our friend Jordan Aycock is posting photos, and "featured:" article subject Jason Bash is asking deep and meaningful questions. Don't be out of the loop! ::BetterBlogging::March 17, 2008Well, theBlog just got better! It looks better and reads way easier than before and you can add comments of your own! All of the old posts are gone, but there will be plenty of new posts soon enough. Andy's got one up right now, but Joshua "theBiggin" Boyer, and Matt "theBallard" Ballard will be posting as well. Maybe even a few others if we get crazy with it. Which we'd like to do. Also, distant friend of theProgram Isaac McKay-Randozzi continues to feature Patrick Jilbert and Andy Collins in his blogging over at SLAP Magazine. Do have a look. And finally, IssueSix is very nearly done, so be on the lookout for it very soon. Boom-sha-lock-lock-boom. ::SLAP'd::March 13, 2007Dudes of theProgram Andy Collins and Patrick Jilbert are both featured on Isaac McKay-Randozzi's SLAP Magazine blog. Check it out. And once you're done checking that out, check out Isaac's website. And then Patrick's. And then Andy's. And don't worry, IssueSix is nearing completion. Promise. Oh damn, we almost forgot! The new HOME skateshop video premieres this Sunday! It's at the Monkeywrench at the corner of Barret and Winter! Two showings! 7 and 9 pm! Free pizza! Door prizes from Nike, Zero, Mystery, and just about every other company that HOME carries! Get down there and get EXTRA CRISPY! ::Coming Along::March 2, 2008IssueSix is lagging a bit, we know. It's coming though. We're just waiting on a few last things to come in so that we can start the layout process. Soon my pretties. Also, if you've inquired about advertising recently, we're still working on it, and we'll get back to you as soon as we have everything in order. Sorry for the delay. Don't neglect theBlog. ::Blogarithm::February 22, 2007Are you ready for this? We gave Andy the keys to theBlog, the newest feature here at theProgram. He's promised to bring you updates as often as he possibly can, which means everytime he goes out skating with other people or shooting a photo or doing something that may loosely tie into skateboarding in some loose, tangential way. And what do you know? A regular Johnny(no Hobo)-on-the-spot, he's already got a first entry up. Check it out over there to your right. Also, IssueSix is well underway and we're really starting to see some good submissions come in. If you've got something you'd like to see run in the zine, get it to us ASAP so we can start laying it out. That's all for now. Go find cover and learn a new flip trick. Oh, and Ballard, we weren't joking. ::An Open Letter::February 21, 2008Dear Matt Ballard, Please go get your camera so that we can start getting stoked on theProgram video. Sincerely, Skateboarders of the world. ::Friendly Fire::February 19, 2008It's a sad day when we have to resort to shooting our own kind.. More updates coming soon. ::Goods::February 4, 2008Sean Pigeon is currently rocking a pretty serious quiver of video camera equipment and luckily for us, he knows how to use it. On a recent trip to Atlanta, he and other familiar faces from theProgram logged enough footage to put together a nice little clip. It's down there in theMedia section. Also, if any of you reading this were able to attend the Tiny Skateshop video premiere and took photos, please send them our way. We tried to get out there in time, but we got locked out and couldn't make it in for the video. Just click on theProgram logo up there in the header and email us your photos. The weather's been nice lately, so hopefully you've been skating. If not, shame on you. ::Premiere Week::January 22, 2008It's a big week for video premieres here in Louisville. First up, Will Hartsock's video "As Time Goes By..." premieres this Thursday, January 24, at the Monkey Wrench. There will be two showings (8pm and 9pm) and it's an all-ages affair. And it's free! There, can we eliminate any more excuses for you to not go and see this? The next night is the Tiny Skateshop video premiere. It's being held in conjunction with the RIOT skatepark all-night lock-in on Friday, January 25. You've got to pay for the lock-in to get into the premiere, so save all your lunch money this week, mooch food off of your friends, and be in the crowd for the first ever viewing of the video. If you can't make it to that, there will be a second premiere at the Monkey Wrench on Monday, January 29. Again all ages, again free. We haven't even seen a trailer, but with the guys that are on that team, we're sure the video will be good. Let's just hope Floyd isn't naked anywhere in it. In further video-related news, we've got a new video clip up that was submitted to us by none other than IssueFive's interviewee, Jeremiah Stevens. If you read the interview, you know that he's just as stoked on filming as he is on skating, so it's not really a surprise that he's planning on contributing stuff to us on a regular basis. The more the merrier. The thumbnail is down there to your right, so click and enjoy. ::Quickly:: January 11, 2008Louisville skateboarder and filmer Will Hartsock has turned filmmaker and just put the finishing touches on his video "As Time Goes By." There will be a premiere at the Monkey Wrench on Thursday, January 24 at 8pm and 9 pm. And as luck would have it, he came out with a great looking trailer to tide you over for the next two weeks. ::Happy Birthday:: January 8, 2008Well, incredibly enough, today marks exactly one year of theProgram's existence on this fine Earth. Crazy stuff. In 365 days, we've managed to put out 5 issues, which is an issue every 73 days on average. Not bad considering how small our "staff" is. We feel like theZine and theMontages just keep getting better and better and we know that the next 365 days will be even better than the first. We have already started on IssueSix, but we need photos and stories from you folks out there. Send us what you've got, and if we like it, we'll run it. theWeather seems to be unseasonably warm as of late, so hopefully you all are out there riding your skateboards and taking pictures and making videos with your friends. If you are, send them to us! Also, the rumors that you've been hearing about a certain video project may or may not be true. Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. ::Quickly:: December 21, 2007In what will probably be the last post of the new year, we here at theProgram would like to wish everyone out there a safe and happy holiday season. And just remember, if the weather gets cold and wet, theProgram will still be working. ::Just Because:: December 12, 2007IssueFive has been out for a minute now and is getting some good reviews. Templeton Elliot of The Skateboard Mag has a blog and gave the new issue a bit of a shout. Big up. Speaking of which, theBiggin is reported to have re-procured (a word, right?) his editing software and is promising clips for theSite soon. In the meantime, he's been filming with Gary Hall and the rest of the crew for the upcoming Home Skateshop video. Also, if anyone's selling a vx2000 that's in good shape, let us know. We're in theMarket as it were.
::IssueFive:: December 7, 2007 It's here! IssueFive is here. Finally! The damned monkey has finally left our backs. Eventhough we took out all the hidden easter eggs that you weren't clicking on anyway, there IS a whole new layout, a whole new logo, and a whole new page turning function that has really cleaned up the look of the zine. We think you'll be stoked. Big thanks to Jon Stalnaker for all of his free (it was free, right Jon?) help with the page turning end of things. Of course, we can't hit you with JUST a new issue of theProgram. You know we've got to back it up with a new montage. theBallard may be camera-less, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still get footage for you fine folks out there. Pat him on the back next time you see him. Although, after you read his column this month, you might rather punch him in the face. Just remember, he loves you. Maybe. ::ComingSoon:: November 27, 2007It's coming everyone, trust us. We're getting a lot of emails about the new issue, which is a good thing, and we want to put out a collective "it's on it's way" answer. The finishing touches are being put on theInterview as we speak and with any luck the new issue will be up as early as this weekend. Or next weekend. Good things come to those who wait, let's just say that. Also, we've been hearing reports that there's a buzz going around that theProgram is "cliqued-out" and only uses submissions and material from certain people and of certain people. That is absolutely not true. If you have something to send in, send it in. If you have something you want to do and need some help with how to go about doing it or getting it to us, let us know. Video, photo, artwork, articles, dither, babbles, scratchings, whatever you got...send it in. If it's good and we can use it, we will. Stop hating, start participating. And lastly, have you seen the new Thrasher Magazine? theProgram's own Andy Collins has an article that features some familiar faces from issues past, namely Pat McLane, Gary Hall, and Dane "theDave" Warner. It comes with the new full-length Osiris Shoes video, which you know you want, so get down to your local shop and pick up a copy. NewNew November 8, 2007Well, in an attempt to become more organized, and thus timely around here, we've implemented this new calendar that we will be following precisely. ::Seriously:: October 30, 2007Think we aren't working over here? Think again. ::AlmostThere:: October 16, 2007Betcha thought we weren't coming back huh? Wrong. We're very hard at work on the new issue and are just waiting on the last few pieces of it to come in from our guys out in the field. As you can see, we've redesigned the site just a smidge and are working on an even larger site redesign. This one is just temporary, but as temporary things often do, it may hang around longer than we intend. Worry not, we're not going anywhere for a while. theMedia fellas should be coming through with some new media very soon, as they've been scolded for not having updates lately. Of course, we aren't ones to talk over here. Anyway, autumn is the absolute best time to ride your sled, so get out there and learn something new so that you can have yet another trick to relearn next spring. ::Coming Along:: September 10, 2007IssueFive of the zine is shaping up and will hopefully be on time this time around. The good news for us is that "on-time" actually means "whenever we can get it out." You won't be disappointed though, as the level of ripping that will be in this issue is quickly surpassing that of any of our previous issues. The real reason for the update today though, is to tell you that theBallard procured a camera for a couple of days and was able to put together an extremely fun little clip. It's on theMedia page, so check it out. And one more thing before we let you go: theProgram's own theBiggin was finally able to buy a camera which means that theProgram has a camera that is somewhat dedicated to it. STOKED. What this means for you is that you'll be able to see a lot more video updates on the site. It also might mean something else, but we'll let you know about that a little later on. Go skate. ::Slow And Slower:: August 27, 2007Still excruciatingly slow around here these days. No video camera means that not many people are down to go rip for photos, so the zine is lagging behind a bit. There are a few fellas out there that are still trying to get stuff done, and kudos to them. We do, however, have a new clip this week. Somehow, theBallard managed to round up a camera to shoot another stellar trick tip. Go peep it on theMedia page. Due to some computer-hacker-status, theForums will be going down fairly soon. The server where they sit got hacked and therefore the hosting services are being switched over. What this means is that we have to find new forum hosting services that fit nicely into our bottom line of "On The House," which as you might imagine, is difficult to do. So, we're working on a redesign of both theForums and theSite itself in order to bring a new look and some new energy to the project. And unfortunately, that's all we've got today. Hopefully, there will be more coming. ::SSDD:: August 12, 2007As per usual, things have slowed down a bit after the build up to the release of the newest issue. It's just the nature of things. We hope to have some updates soon, but again, there's not a whole lot happening around here right now. If you haven't yet checked it out, get down to your local skateshop and pick up a copy of issue 42 of The Skateboard Mag for a look at the article they did on theProgram. Good stuff. And finally, as some of you may have noticed (although no one's said anything yet, so we're guessing that none of you are really paying too much attention), we took the montage that theBallard did for IssueFour off of the site. We can't really tell you why, but you'll probably be able to figure it out around September or October. You might have to ask this guy for an exact date though. ::AboutThatTime:: August 4, 2007Unfortunately, it's "Back to School" time. That always, always sucks. So, in the hopes of getting you all stoked for a few last all-day sessions with your friends, there's a new clip up in theMedia section. theBallard put it together, so you know it's prime cuts. Enjoy. And enjoy what's left of your summer. ::IssueFour:: July 28, 2007Well, well, well...looky here...IssueFour is finally up and running. It's our biggest issue yet, coming in at 35 pages! We had so many articles and submissions that we had to save a couple for the next issue. Stoke. You know the drill, click on the thumbnail to the right and get to reading...it's good for your mind. There could not have been a better time for us to get this issue done, because the newest issue of The Skateboard Mag contains a Sklog article about theProgram. We're super psyched that the dudes over at TSM are feeling what we're trying to do and wrote up such a dope article. A big shout out goes to Templeton Elliot for the kind words and for giving us some national exposure. And along with a new issue, comes new media! theBallard has put together yet another banging montage for you to feast your eyes on. And for those of you that were too lazy to try and find the hidden links in the last issue, we went ahead and put up the trick tip that was hidden in theBallard's article. Both are on theMedia page, go check them out. Last week was apparently contest week here in Louisville, with the Redbull Manny Mania on Saturday and the Hometown Heroes contest series coming through on Monday. theProgram's own theBallard was recruited to film and edit the Redbull contest for 411VM, and did a pretty bang up job of it. Good on ya, mate. And locals Tyrone Porter, Gary Hall, and Dane Warner respecitvely took the top three spots at the Hometown Heroes contest. We couldn't agree more. Some of the contest footage is in this week's Wednesday What. The contest was insane and if there was someway to bottle the energy and emotion that filled the park that night, we here at theProgram would be richer than rich. Alright, this update has gone on long enough, and we're sure you're chomping at the bit to go check out the new stuff, so go do it. See you in the streets. ::ComingSoon:: July 19, 2007Issue Four is coming very soon, we promise! It's going to feature a lot of new faces and a lot of new names, and that's perfectly fine with us. The zine is really starting to grow, and we're very excited about it. Along with the new issue, you're going to see a lot of new video content on theMedia page. Be ready to feast your peepers. And more good news on the video front: there's going to be A LOT more video content in Issue Four to make up for our skimping on the last issue. Also, there's a new event over there. Kinda short notice we know, but you should've already known about it. Pay attention much? Lastly, we're going to break precedence here and give Gary Hall his second DOTW honors. Gary has been absolutely WRECKING SHOP lately. Can someone hook this kid up with a board sponsor already? ::RightBackAtcha:: July 3, 2007Just a quick note to let you know that we have yet another video clip in theMedia section today. It's more quality camera and editing work from theBallard and a banger of a tricktip. Do enjoy. Also, get over there in theForums! We've got some good discussions going and we know you've got something to add. And lastly, go enjoy your 4th of July, eventhough you've no reason to celebrate your "independence" or "freedom" anymore. Instead, just celebrate blowing stuff up. ::WorthTheWait:: July 1, 2007Surprise! There are new things to see and look at! Firstly, the links section has been replaced by the long-awaited archive for the old issues of the zine. You'll notice it's in a little different format, and that the hidden links and whatnot are gone, but all the pages to the old issues are there. We're very excited about finally getting this together as it's the one thing that people keep asking for. Secondly, there's a new video clip on the media page. Andy's stoked because it's mostly vert footage and he's on some sort of vert kick lately. Check his LiveJournal for proof. An update on Bam's condition tells us that he stayed in the hospital for three days and was released, but we don't have any new info on his injuries or the outcomes of them. We're hoping he's fine. Lastly, theForums are afire with debates over issues like skating during demos, ABDs, spot secrecy, and various and sundry other topics that we're sure you have opinions on. Get in there and put in your two cents. ::WellWishes:: June 15, 2007As you may have heard, the Adio team came through town yesterday and put on a demo at the park. We would spent some time reminding all of you that demos are for the visiting team to skate and promote their product and are NOT a "try-out" session for you to try and get hooked up, but there's a more important issue to bring up. The night before the demo, the team was skating the park and Mr. Brandon "Bam" Margera hit one of the numerous peg holes in the bottom of the fullpipe and was seriously injured. Serious as in major internal injuries and from what the Adio riders knew, Bam was in pretty bad shape. Love him or hate him, we should all be hoping for a full recovery. To wish anyone in that situation anything less, regardless of status, celebrity, etc. is not only un-skateboarderlike, but absolutely cruel and selfish. We've seen FAR too many bulletins saying that he "got what he deserved" and that people were "glad he got hurt," and frankly, we're disgusted and the number of you out there that could be filled with such unfounded cruelty. theProgram has an insane amount of pride in Louisville and the skate scene here, and are disappointed to see that both the city and the scene are being represented by people with such ignorant hate in their lives. theProgram will NOT support such actions and will not feature anyone supporting these types of actions and attitudes. Again, we wish Bam nothing but a full recovery and would like to apologize for the hate being shown by a number of skateboarders in this city. We hope that the Adio team understands that these selected few are merely bad apples in an otherwise positive and supportive orchard. ::Remember Us?:: June 10, 2007Wow, finally an update. There isn't anything much to report with this update however. Andy tells us that he hasn't been getting many calls to shoot photos lately, so we're not sure what's going on out there, but we know that we aren't seeing any photos come through. Call the man...he likes to shoot. The only other thing of note is the new event down in the right hand corner. It should be a rockin' good time, so please, show the skate industry that Louisville isn't a city full of idiots and haters. Stay up and we'll see you very soon with REAL updates. ::All Apologies:: May 24, 2007It seems like all we do lately is apologize for slacking on the updates. We would apologize for that, but that would just make things completely ridiculous. Anyway, we're back after a brief lull in the action after IssueThree came out. You must understand, we were busting our rumps to get that issue out when we did. We still really feel like it's our best issue yet, and we've gotta give a big shout out to Mr. Elliot at Mostly Skateboarding for holding us down and letting the general public know when we get around to updating and for all the props that he's given us. New today is a little montage from our good friend and co-head-video-dude, Matt Ballard. It's just a fun little clip that will hopefully get you stoked to go out and skate with your friends. It's up there in theMedia section. And, freakishly enough, for coming through with such a good clip theBallard is the new DOTW. By the way, DOTW normally stands for "Dude of theWeek," but since we're so on top of things around here, it now stands for Dude of theWhenever. This is, of course, subject to change whenever we feel like it, so get over it. Anyway, Matt takes the crown this time so check him out here and give him his due props. ::Tired of Waiting?:: May 15, 2007It might be 15 days late, but IssueThree is finally here. We know you've been waiting for it, and trust us, we've been working hard to get it done because we're tired of looking at it. The good news is that it's our best issue so far. As you've heard, there are photos from 5 different photographers in this issue. That's a far cry from our first issue four months ago when Andy was shooting everything. Things are definitely picking up. Speaking of picking up, theProgram was recently approached about doing an article for Issue 42 of The Skateboard Mag. Of course, theProgram obliged, so you should be seeing that article in the next issue of The Skateboard Mag which will be out in a couple weeks. We're stoked. Anyway, enjoy IssueThree, read it cover to cover and then go out and skate with your friends. And take photos. And send them to us. ::If It Ain't One Thing...:: April 24, 2007IssueThree is a beast that is proving hard to tame. We've had three interviews fall through and are thusly onto plans D and E. We're still shooting for the first of May, but it may be a few days late. You'll forgive us, I'm sure. The good news is that we've had a ton of good submissions for this issue, and so you're going to be seeing photography from 5 different photographers in this issue. In our book, that's extremely rad. In keeping with the notion of submissions, this week's Dude Of theWeek is Ryan Tassi. He came through with several submissions, all of which were top notch. That's exactly what we like to see around here, and for his efforts, Ryan is duly crowned this weeks DOTW. Hook up with him on his myspace page and go shoot some photos.Oh, and there's a new clip on the media page. Check it. ::TwoWeaks:: April 13, 2007So it's Friday the 13th. RIOT is probably packed. Sorry for the disgustingly slow update turnaround as of late, but the entire contributing squad has been insanely busy. Unfortunately, not all of that business has been because of theProgram. However, there is some good news to bring you lovely folks this evening. Firstly, there are two new videos up on theMedia page. Thank you Matt Ballard. Speaking of Matt Ballard, we here at theProgram have been working him so hard, that he's actually reached the end of his monitary rope. That means he's out of money and can't pay rent, buy food, or more importantly, buy DV tapes. Starving and homeless is no way for a filmer to live, especially when he can't even film. So when and if you see Matt, float theDude a buck. Also new tonight, is a new event...FINALLY! Legendary skateboard artist Don Pendleton (formerly Alien Workshop and Element, currently Darkroom) is teaming up with friend and amazing artist Dave Ackels for a one night only show at the Butcher Block. This will also be the last show at the Butcher Block. Details are to your right. Lastly, this week's DOTW is none other than Louisville's own Hotdog. You'll see why when IssueThree is out, but just know that homeboy took the hint when theProgram started and got his skateboarding fires stoked, scrounged up some photo gear and got to shooting and roadtripping with his friends. Top form mate. For your efforts, you will live in infamy. For a week. Or two. ::April's Fool:: April 1, 2007The site has been slow, but the minions have been busy. We are currently neck deep in the rush of getting IssueThree done. You won't be disappointed. We finally got the submissions page up and running, but hopefully you've already noticed. However from the lack of submissions we've seen, maybe you haven't. GET A MOVE ON! And if you've submitted something and don't see it up there, submit it again. Lastly, the DOTW. There's really only been one thing we've seen this week that made us stand up and take notice: Chili's front blunt at Cinemas. We may not know your real name, but it won't matter for at least another week because we'll just call you DOTW. Congrats brother, and trust us, out to forward is WAY more ill than to fakie. ::National Exposures:: March 21, 2007Well, theProgram has officially spilled out from the floodgates surrounding the city of Louisville and coated the national skateboarding scene with a coat of awesome. First and foremost, Josh Stewart and other Staticites and Theorizers came through town and were psyched enough to shout out theProgram on their website. Just days later, theProgram received mucho props from the dudes over at MostlySkateboarding. They were especially feeling Mr. Boyer's montage. Reports indicate that Mr. Boyer is now more hyped than ever and will be gracing theProgram with an even sicker montage very soon. Keep your eyes peeled for that. This week, the DOTW is, for the first time ever, a non-local. Mostly because he rips harder than most of you know, but partly because no local really stepped up this week, Matt Creasy is this week's DOTW. You will be seeing more of Mr. Creasy very soon, both here at theProgram and on a national level. If you've heard what he did at Locks, you understand just why he earned the crown. Finally, be sure to check out the article on HOME Skateshop in this month's The Skateboard Mag. TINGS WE RUN March 10, 2007We're hard at work on IssueThree and are still hoping to have it out sooner than we were able to bring you IssueTwo. From what we can tell, our mission of getting the skateboarders of Louisville hyped to skate together and bring the scene together seems to be working. Our field agents reports lots of talk about theProgram amongst the locals and even more bro'ing down. For example, footage was recently leaked of several locals coming up on some serious bangers at the infamous Jheri Curl bump, suggesting that locals are starting to realize that it's fun to skate somewhere other than the park. We are still working on developing the page for submitted photos and video and whatnot, so bear with us. Also, there will eventually be an archive of all the old issues of the zine, just without the easter eggs. Have any suggestions? Just click on the contact page and hit us up one way or the other. The weather is starting to take a turn for the better, and with daylight savings time being extended an entire month, it's shaping up to be a killer spring and summer. The amount of ripping that has gone down already is staggering and if it keeps up at this rate, we think you'll start seeing a lot more of Louisville in the national spotlight. And now, it's time to honor this week's DOTW. Jeremiah Stevens is a one man wrecking crew. When you've been named as one of the top three dudes to come out of this city by the number one dude to ever come out of the city, you've got some big shoes to fill. Jeremiah has been doing just that this past week. You'll see exactly what we're talking about soon enough, but we're sure you already understand just how hard the dude rips. He probably has no idea about theProgram, the DOTW, or anything else associated with this, because all he does is go out and skate. Next time you see him, pay attention because you're definitely going to learn something. NEW ISSUE UP NOW! February 28, 2007Yes, yes, yes! The new issue is finally here. We kind of went all out on the first issue, using up 95% of our good material, so we were starting from scratch with this one, thus the time lapse between issues. We hope to have new issues out more quickly than every other month, but we'll see how it goes. But nevermind that, the new issue is here. We listened to a lot of the suggestions we got from all of you and really tried to bring those things into this issue. We think you'll dig it. As always, there are tons of easter eggs hidden in the thing, so get busy clicking around to see what you can find. Oh, and for all you cheaters out there, you're not going to be able to find them like you did the last time. Sorry to ruin your fun. There's also new content in the media section today. One clip you may have seen if you spent your time looking for the easter eggs for IssueOne, but the other is brand new. Check out both of the clips and be stoked. Lastly, it's time to crown our second DOTW. There's really only one person that stood out to us this week, and you'll soon see why he did. Gary Hall is this week's DOTW, for all of the right reasons. Gary has been KILLING it lately. Gary just got put on flow at DC Shoes, and the new sponsor apparently hyped him up enough to pulverize some of Louisville's gnarliest spots, including a couple that had been previously untouched. If you know Gary, you know he's an all-around great dude, and it's only fitting that he be crowed DOTW for the first week of March. Now go check out the new issue, and as always, STAY UP! ::DUDES!:: February 20, 2007Just a few things to let you know, and then it's back to work on the new issue. First up, in the "Going out and getting it done" category, Ethan Dyer and his boys have informed us that they are finishing up their new video entitled, "Out Skating." We happen to think that it has one of the best titles for a skate video we've seen in a long time. Click the photo below for a full size version of the advert Ethan made.
Secondly, we're starting something new this week. It's called "Dude Of theWeek." We'll be choosing dudes from the area that we think epitomize what theProgram is all about. It could be a dude that's been killing it extra hard lately, or a dude that is always having fun when you see him on his board, or just a dude who is holding down the dudeness to the fullest. You never know. Anyway, this week's DOTW is none other than Bryan Jones. Our field agents report that he was seen skating the Humana garage on Saturday and was ripping, despite the pouring snow and freezing temps. Reports indicate that he learned a new trick while fimling a doubles line with Matt Ballard. Unfortunately, Mr. Jones had previously been lumped into the category of "park kid," by many in the skate community, but I think all of that has changed now. Why? Because park kids don't skate in a dirty ass parking garage when it's 25 degrees outside. Skate rats do that, and skate rats are Grade A, Top Choice Dudes here at theProgram. So congratulations Bryan, for being the first ever Dude of theWeek. Check him out here. ::SMRT:: February 13, 2007As idiocy would have it, we just now figured out that our email forwarding was messed up. So, if you've been trying to send us emails and getting no response, that's why. We've been back through the ones that we have received and will responding to each of you appropriately. Especially you Thom. You too, Tutak. Anyway, new to the site today is a hidden sneak peak at IssueTwo. We aren't giving away any clues to this one, so just spend some time looking around and see what you can find. Trust us, it's not going to be easy. Lastly, Tony Reddington over at FTK Magazine called us out on not linking up with them, so a big "our bad" goes out to those dudes. Make sure all of you are getting down to your local shops and picking up the issues of FTK as they come out. IssueTwo is starting to shape up and will be all up in your grill soon enough. ::Nothing But Nothing:: February 7, 2007
This is what happens when you go to Ollie's and just try to wing some photos. But, it should also serve as evidence that we are in fact TRYING to bring you new content. If any of you out there are evil scientists, loan us a weather machine so that we can make it sunny and a little warmer for a week or two so that we can get Issue Two out. Thanksomuch. ::Still Waters Run Deep:: February 1, 2007There hasn't been a whole lot going on with the site end of theProgram lately, but that doesn't mean that we aren't working. We've had several articles for the new issue fall through, so we're having to regroup a bit. If anyone has any ideas for things they'd like to see, there's a thread in theForums to let us know. As you probably already know, the weather has gone sour as of late, meaning that skateboarding, and the documentation thereof, has been hit or miss. However, there is no need to fear ye devoted faithful, IssueTwo will be upon you soon. Even with the weather being less than tropical, spirits are still high and dudes are still ripping. Sort of. Now go get busy in theForums. ::Bigup Dates:: January 22, 2007Hey, after weeks of hassling him, Mr. Boyer finally got his act together and put together an amazing montage. Check it out in the media section. Walk it out. ::Short and Sweet:: January 15, 2007Just a quick note to let you know two things: 1. There's a new event down there in the Events section. 2. If you registered for theForums and haven't yet received your confirmation email, shoot us an email or a message on myspace. Apparently, the server's been busy sending out spam emails for Japanese porn so it's taking a while to send out the important emails to you fine folks. Thanks for your patience, and stay classy Louisville. ::Talky Talky:: January 14, 2007Well, it only took us a week to get theForums up and going, but hey, at least we got them going. theProgram took the liberty of starting a few basic threads to get the discussions going, but please start your own threads about the stuff you wanna talk about. Forums only work if there are a few people brave and/or bored enough to start posting to get everyone else talking, so be creative, and get to posting! Also, there's a new video clip up in the media section, so check that out. Then, go film your own stuff, edit it, and submit it and we'll get it up for you. ::Launch Day:: January 8, 2007Welcome to "theProgram." For weeks you've been teased with small glimpses of this venture via theProgram's myspace page, but the time has come to let you all in on the secret. What is theProgram? It's a collective effort aimed at making the Louisville skateboarding scene more unified and more easily visible. How are we planning on doing such a thing? With constant updates, video clips, photos, a discussion forum, and most importantly, the online zine. The online zine has been designed to be one of the most dynamic presentations of skateboarding ever released. You're going to want to spend some time looking around because there's a lot more than meets the eye in the zine (as well as the rest of the site). If you've been paying attention, you already know what we mean. If you haven't, now is the time to start. Unfortunately, the forums are not yet functioning, but that should change within the month. If you've got something to tell theProgram, send us an email or give us a shout on myspace. But before you do any of that, take a look around, and remember, things aren't always what they seem.
